Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State says his administration will partner with the members of  the Yoruba Peoples Congress (YPC) and Non Indigenes Alliance in the state to make the state crime-free.

The governor, who also said  his administration would  not isolate similar groups, spoke on Tuesday in Akure when  members of the associations  visited him.

Represented by his deputy, Mr Agboola Ajayi, the governor  commended the groups  for their determination  to help  the state tackle crime.

He said the  Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and YPC  share  the same objective of protecting the state against criminals, adding that a chieftain  of the OPC and  Aare Ona Kakanfo, Otunba Gani Adams,  also preaches peace.

The governor said the fight against crime must not be left to the police alone, noting that groups such as OPC and YPC all have roles to play.
