Karim Wade, the flamboyant son of former Senegalese president Abdoulaye Wade, has been sentenced to six years in prison for financial impropriety and corruption. 46 year old Karim who was nicknamed “Minister of Heaven and Earth” during his tenure as Minister was found guilty of “illicit enrichment”.
He had gone on trial in June 2014 with charges including illegal acquisition of companies and a large amount of real estate while serving in various govt posts during his father’s 2000-2012 presidency.
