Akume steps down for Lawan, as 35 APC senators back Saraki for senate presidency


The tussle for the leadership of Senate Presidency in the incoming 8th National Assembly has taken a new dimension as two of the key contenders, Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator George Akume have agreed to work together.
Under the latest deal struck during the retreat organised for senators-elect by APC, Senator Lawan is being supported to gun for senate president while Akume has accepted to step down for him and to rather run for the position of Deputy Senate President.
