Fuji music legend, Kollington Ayinla and renowned Waka queen, Salawa Abeni are among music icons who dominated the scene, not only through their music but also with tales of the rift between them following a love affair.
No party in the south west was said to be complete without these music legends serenading guests with their particular style of music but beyond that, the two ended up as man and wife, a union that produced 3 children before they went their separate ways.
After their separation, they became sworn enemies and many would remember the bitter name-calling musical they launched against each other. Consequently, it was thought that the duo would never get to see eye-to-eye let alone reconcile.
But after 25 years of living separately, Kollington Ayinla and Salawa Abeni reunited recently. The former lovers made a pubic show of love for each other at the 8-day Fidau and burial ceremony of the late mother of Salawa Abeni in Epe, Lagos State last Sunday.
Recall that the Waka queen has children for the Fuji legend so he was essentially attending the burial of his children’s grandmother. ‘With open arms and courtesy, Queen Salawa Abeni welcomed Kollington to the event, attended also by other Fuji and Apala artistes including Adewale Ayuba, Shefiu Alao, Sulaimon Adio aka Atawewe and other,’ a report by E24-7 states.
Kollington was said to have sat very close to Salawa and their body language all through the day conveyed nothing but affection and intimacy as they talked, smiled and held hands.
