During a visit to NET, Singer Darey opens up on how Psquare inspired Pray For Me
One of Africa’s most decorated R&B singers, Darey has told Nigerian Entertainment Today how his newly-released single ‘Pray For Me’ was inspired by a true life story.
Darey shared the scoop when he visited NET recently as part of promotional tours for his new track which features multiple Grammy award winning group, Soweto Choir Group
Compared in some circles with Timi Dakolo’s single Wish Me Well , the cut was ACTUALLY INSPIRED by the story of Nigerian pop duo Psquare.
It’s the first time Darey – who’s friends with Dakolo and Psquare, and whose father was a popular entertainer – is speaking on the reason for the widely-loved song.
‘The song Pray For Me was actually inspired by a true life story. It was inspired by the story of Psquare’, he told our correspondents.
‘My producer shared the story with me of Peter and Paul and their brother, Jude.
They wanted to leave home for Lagos to make a success of their music but their father was not in support. He threatened to disown them but the brothers were adamant. They destroyed their sim as a way of telling the man they were resolved and were only seeking for his prayer.’
