Fans of ailing Nigerian music legend, Majek Fashek can heave a sigh of relief as the veteran musician has been checked into a rehabilitation center in Abuja and is responding to treatment.
In recent weeks, a campaign was launched to raise money for his rehabilitation but fresh feelers indicate donations are no longer necessary. According to his former dancer and coordinator of the Save Majek Fashek Campaign, Monica Omorodion, they are not receiving donations for the rehabilitation of the ‘Rainmaker’ anymore.
She said popular Warri-based financier, Ayiri Emami has taken over caring for Majek Faskek and he doesn’t want public donations to the course anymore. ‘Please, effective from today, no one needs to send funds for rehabilitation of Majek. This a condition from Chief Ayiri. NO MORE FUNDRAISING,’ she wrote in a Facebook post.
