Viacom media plans big for 10th anniversary

    Pan-African broadcaster Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2015 by making its biggest ever investment in content for African audiences. Today, September 4, 2015 the network announced its plans to grow investment in local productions aimed at entertaining viewers from 4 to 40+ across its growing suite of entertainment channels, including Comedy Central (DStv channel 122), Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305 and GOtv channel 62), Nick Jr. (DStv channel 307), NickToons (DStv channel 308), MTV (DStv channel 130), MTV Base (DStv channel 322 and GOtv Plus channel 72) and BET (DStv channel 135 and GOtv channel 23).
    Commented Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, VIMN Africa, ‘We are excited about our 2015/16 slate of high quality content that will engage our African viewers across multiple genres including stand-up comedy, music specials, entertainment news, chart shows and awards properties.’

    Other exciting plans in the pipeline for 2015/6 include the creation of brand new themed events for VIMN Africa’s comedy, kids and general entertainment channels, including an international comedy festival (Comedy Central), and a Nigerian version of family friendly festival NickFest (Nickelodeon).
    The network also promises to continue to stage and broadcast its renowned annual international event franchises from around the world including the MTV EMAs (MTV/MTV Base, 25 October 2015), the VMAs (MTV/MTV Base, August 2016), The Movie Awards (MTV/MTV Base, April 2016), BET Honors (BET, February 2016), The BET Awards (June 2015), BET Hip Hop Awards (October 2015), Black Girls Rock (BET, April 2016) and The Nickelodeon KCAs (March 2016).
