2 dead in plane crash on set of Tom Cruise’s new movie ‘Mena’

    According to Colombia’s civilian aviation authority, an American and a Colombian have been confirmed dead after a plane crashed while filming Tom Cruise‘s new movie ‘Mena’.
    The small aircraft crashed in the Colombian Andes on Friday, September 11, 2015.
    A spokesperson for Universal said: ‘An aircraft carrying crew members crashed while returning to Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin following production wrap on the film ‘Mena’ resulting in two fatalities. Further details are not available at this time. On behalf of the production, our hearts and prayers go out to the crew members and their families at this difficult time.’
    Tom was not on the aircraft at the time of the crash.
    American Alan Purwin and Colombian Carlos Berl have been named as the deceased while American Jimmy Lee Garland is currently in intensive care.
    Tom has been filming the movie ‘Mena’, about a drug runner acting as an informant for the CIA, in Medellin, Colombia’s second largest city.
    According to the aviation official, the twin-engine Aerostar hit bad weather soon after taking off.
