It’s been widely reported that US singer Chris Brown has been denied entry into Australia by the authorities ahead of his tour of the country in December.
The singer has however spoken up to clear the air saying, ‘My request to enter Australia on tour has not been denied. The request is currently being considered by the office office of the immigration officer’.
The singer is scheduled to go on tour in Australia in December, and tickets have already gone on sale.
Earlier in the week, Australian Minister for Women Michaelia Cash, was quoted to have said, ‘People need to understand, if you are going to commit domestic violence and you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, ‘You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia’.
In 2009, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend, the pop star Rihanna. He has toured Australia twice since, but the government is reportedly under pressure to refuse him entry this time.
