One week after the resignation of Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, Seattle Sounders star, Obafemi Martins has been recalled to the team by coach Sunday Oliseh.
Martins will be joining others for November’s world cup qualifying match against Swaziland. The 31-year-old last played for the Super Eagles in 2013 before falling out with former coach, Stephen Keshi. He has however been in fantastic form since moving to America and has netted 15 goals in the MLS this season making many Nigerian football fans yearn for his return to the national team.
Obafemi Martins has in the past scored 18 goals for Nigeria in 39 appearances.
