President Barack Obama has finally launched his very own Facebook page.
That’s not to say Obama hasn’t had a heavy Facebook presence for years. According to reports, his 2008 campaign was the first to aggressively use social media to woo and organize supporters, and there’s been a White House page for a while with over 4.3million Likes.
But, like Obama’s personal Twitter handle, the White House views the new Facebook page as a way to hear from the president in a slightly more personal setting.

‘Hello, Facebook! I finally got my very own page.’ The President wrote in his inaugural post.
In his post, Obama explained that he hopes the page will be a place where ‘we can have real conversations about the most important issue facing our country.’ Though in parentheses he promises some ‘just-for-fun-stuff, too.’
Meanwhile, the ‘Barack Obama’ Facebook account, which has over 45 million followers, will continue to be updated by the White House Organization.
