The elections have long ended and the electorates have begun to clamour for good governance which they voted for at the last polls.
In the last couple of months, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has been under the spotlight for various reasons ranging from insecurity to the problems bedeviling the entertainment industry amongst others.
Speaking with NET recently, the Lagos state Commisioner for Information, Steve Ayorinde opened up on the plans the governor has outlined for the industry, which is regarded as an avenue Nigeria can make huge revenue if well utilised.
According to Ayorinde, ‘the Governor isn’t joking with issues that have to do with Arts and entertainment. For the first time in Nigeria as far as I know, Governor Ambode has carved out a distinct ministry for arts, culture and tourism which means that he is interested in the growth of entertainment.’
‘The Governor has also spoken about ‘Project THESE’ which is a focus on Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment and Sports for Excellence so the whole idea of having a distinct ministry in charge of arts, culture and entertainment is to drive everything entertainment in the state and ofcourse issues of piracy will naturally come in because 95% of artistic products actually come from Lagos while 90% of revenue from the entertainment industry also come from Lagos,’ Ayorinde, a veteran journalist, said.
