Days ago, Nigerians reacted angrily to Julius Agwu’s decision to donate turkeys to indigent American families ahead of the country’s upcoming thanksgiving. The comedian gave out turkeys to 250 families and security personnel in the City of Riverdale in Georgia.
Responding to NET enquiries on the motive of the comedian, his rep, Bishop Adejugbe opened up that the comedian’s kind gesture was only in line with the objective of his foundation. ‘This gesture is in line with the vision and mission of Julius Agwu Foundation Inc. worldwide with our motto being For God & Humanity,’ Bishop, who is the COO of the Julius Agwu Foundation, disclosed.
He said further, ‘We chose to give back to a community that has been very supportive of our [Nigerian] community and businesses in the United States. This community is a home to probably the highest concentration of people of Nigerian descent in the State of Georgia, and it may also interest you to know that we have the only officially recognized Yoruba traditional ruler in the US HRM Oba Shola Akinrimsi the Oriade of Georgia with staff of office from the Mayor of Riverdale resides in the City of Riverdale. The Oba was one of the dignitaries that attended the thanksgiving give-away.’
