Nigerian rapper, 2shotz could bag 5 years jail term for assault

    2shotz is yet to respond to new allegations of domestic violence against him.
    Earlier in the week, Nigerian rapper, William Oriorha popularly called 2shotz was in the news again.
    This time, its for all the wrong reasons. His wife of 2 years, Precious Jones allegedly claims that the rapper beats her, insults her parents, and he’s yet to pay her bride price.
    She later went on her Instagram page to pen a heart-felt message to her kids saying she feels she’s failed them as a mother.

    Though she’s yet to institute a lawsuit against the rapper for assault and domestic violence, if she decides to press charges, 2shotz might face a fine of N100,000 or an imprisonment of not more than 5 years or both.
    According to law, Section 351 of the Criminal Code Act defines assault; ‘a person who strikes, touches, or moves, or otherwise applies force of any kind to, the person of another, either directly or indirectly, without his consent, or with his consent, if the consent is obtained by fraud, or who by any bodily act or gesture attempts or threatens to apply force of any kind to the person of another without his consent, in such circumstances that the person making the attempt or threatens has actually or apparently a present ability to effect his purpose, is said to assault that other person, and the act is called an assault’.
    Section 351 of the criminal code Act provides the punishment for assault; ‘any person who unlawfully assaults another is guilty of a misdemeanor, and is liable, if no greater punishment is provided, to imprisonment for one year’.
