2014 Headies ‘Rookie of the Year’, Reekado Banks turns 22 today as excitement fills the air especially among self confessed ‘Reekaddicts’.
Born Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon on December 6, 1993 in Lagos, Reekado is the last child in a music loving family.
Although his parents are pastors, he started doing music at a very young age due to the influence of his elder sister who is a gospel singer and elder brother, a producer.
Reekado Banks initially performed under the stage name, Spicy.
In February 2014, Reekado was one was unveiled as one of the trio signed by Don Jazzy in the Mavin 2.0 class. He was signed alongside Di’ja and Korede Bello.
This signaled a turnaround in his career and months later he delivered the highly impressive hook in Mavin’s massively successful single, ‘Dorobucci’.
A graduate of History and Strategic Studies, Reekado Banks made headlines months ago when he completed the building of a house for his parents.
Like his fellow Mavin 2.0 acts, Reekado is an ambassador for telco firm, Glo.
Although he is yet to drop his debut album, Reekado has released popular singles like ‘Katapot’, ‘Sugar Baby’ and ‘Chop Am’.
