A protracted feud between Fuji legend KWAM 1 and Waka queen, Salawa Abeni took a new turn on Sunday, January 3, 2016 during an event at Timesquare Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
For those who don’t know, all hasn’t been well in the camps of both veterans since 2013 during the 80th birthday of the paramount ruler of Ijebu Ode, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
Sources close to both camps told NET that KWAM 1, also known as K1 had approached respected Ijebu musicians to make an album in honour of the monarch. But after the album was made, Salawa discovered she was missing from the album cover when it was distributed at the party, a development she didn’t take likely.
Since then several attempts have been made to re-unite both parties but it has not yielded any result.
One source told us ‘Salawa is even more angry with K1 for being the only musician that didn’t reach out to her when her mother died in August 2015.’
According to multiple eye witnesses, the beef took a new turn on Sunday January 3, 2016 at a party of one of their mutual friends. It was the burial ceremony of the father of socialite, Lamex‘s wife when a mutual friend approached Salawa saying, ‘Go and greet K1, at least he’s your elder brother’.
Salawa allegedly flared up and publicly threw insults at the mutual friend and also directed verbal jabs at K1 who we’re told did not respond.
NET reached out to KWAM 1’s camp and his manager Afiz Karim told us ‘really it wasn’t a big deal.’
‘It was a mutual friend of Bobo (KWAM 1) and Salawa that tried to get them to greet each other at the party. It didn’t happen, and they simply moved on’.
