American hip hop artist and actor, Mos Def arrested in South Africa, ordered to leave for possessing fake passport

    American hip hop artist and actor, Mos Def was recently arrested in South Africa and has been ordered to leave the country, after it was discovered that he possesses a fraudulent passport.
    The 42-year-old now goes by the name Yasiin Bey, while his birth name is Dante Terrell Smith. He was pulled on at Cape Town International Airport trying to leave the country on an illegal ‘World Passport’, Mayihlome Tshwete, an official from the South African Department of Home Affairs told CNN.
    In a series of tweets, Mayihlome stated that Mos Def was detained upon departure for using illegal travel documents after arriving into the country with a legitimate US passport but since overstayed his visitors permit amidst other claims.
