Fire broke out, Thursday evening, January 28, 2016, at the MRS filling station in Lawanson area of Surulere, Lagos. It happened while a tanker was discharging fuel at the filling station.
The filling station was completely burnt while two other residential buildings were affected despite spirited efforts made by residents and men of the Fire Service to contain the fire.
While some media have reported the loss of two lives, the National Emergency Management Authority says there was no loss of life. ‘No one was injured. 2 people suffered suffocation but no injuries’, a statement on its official Facebook page says.
