    Emma Ugolee.
The gifts in some men make it hard for you to believe that God is not partial. Representing these sort of men would definitely be the man ‘Timi Dakolo‘ Gracious Heavens!
    What a voice!
As though God was making an angel for his choir then had a change of heart midway and gave Timi to mankind. The sheer power of his vocal cord to evoke emotion gets his concert attendees reaching for handkerchiefs to dry tears that respond in amazement. I am a fan.
You can imagine the struggle to contain myself when RMD introduced him and American Idols Reuben Studdard, in a live duet at an event I attended at Eko hotel.
Reuben kicks off the song. O dear! What clarity. Every sound so painlessly penetrating our eardrums. World class delivery. The crisp clear voice spared no one with its arrest. Then our boy appears to take verse two.
It felt like a dream, undeniable disappointment. The same fully functional type of microphone sounded like a brand new megaphone projecting muffled screaming that desperately tried to catch up with the effortlessly soaring Reuben.
A cough? a bad day or technical disadvantage? None of the above o! Infact it was the same ol Timi performance we used to love but today it had to run alongside a professionally coached voice master who was less gifted with the raw texture but by training more equipped to expose the presence of a higher standard.
Reuben had acquired voice training to control pitch, pace and power. Mastering modulation. The art was now a science. The difference evident even in the way they both held the mic.
See why film school made Clarence Peters look like a magician until other directors started sitting in classes. Never let the applause of the home crowd serve as your indicator of final arrival.
