Seperate coal mine blasts killed a total of seven people in China and Ukraine.
A report on Wednesday in Beijing has confirmed the death of six miners that were trapped in a coal mine after a blast in south-west China’s Yunnan province.
It stated that the explosion in Shaba Coal Mine occurred on Wednesday morning in Yanjin County.
It said it was still not clear how many people were injured or trapped, but authorities were investigating the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, One Ukrainian coal miner was killed and nine others were reported missing, feared dead, Wednesday after a methane gas explosion in a mine shaft in the war-scarred pro-Russian separatist east.
The chief health official of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic said 20 workers were inside the mine when the blast occurred Tuesday in an area some 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of the Russian border.
“Four are in hospital getting treatment for burns. We recovered one body and nine are still under the rubble,” Larisa Airapetyan told the official Lugansk separatists’ news site.
“The chances of finding them alive are slim — the gas accumulation is very high.”
