NDDC board: APC chieftain cautions Buhari over PDP moneybags

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Chief Umokoro Akpomeda, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to be weary of members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, moneybags, who may want to influence appointment of board members of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Speaking to newsmen in Asaba weekend, the Ughelli High Chief noted that members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been scrambling for appointments by the APC led government and this they do by giving “huge sums of money” in bribe to whoever they deem fit to help them achieve their desired goals, warning that such was dangerous for the growth of the ‘broom party’ in the Niger Delta region.
According to him, a case in point is that of a notable PDP chieftain from Warri axis of Delta State, who held sway on the defunct board of the NDDC. He is also said to be on trying to induce chieftains of the APC in the state and beyond to enable him return to the board of the intervention agency.
High Chief Akpomeda added that those “were the forces of retrogression that made the benefits of the commission to elude the people of the state as a result of placing self above the interest of the people at large.”
This development, the Ughelli High Chief noted will set the hands of the APC clock back as appointing this same man who allegedly was a major pillar of the PDP before and after elections at the detriment of member of the APC who he said, toiled and laboured for the party’s success in the entire region.
