Some concerned members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State have called for the suspension of Senator Hope Uzodinma over alleged anti-party activities during the recently concluded ward and local government congresses of the party.
In a statement issued yesterday in Owerri, Chief Ahamefule Dike and Jude Nnajiude explained that the people of Orlu zone are peaceful, well mannered and law abiding, stressing that “Uzodinma’s desperation to continue to hold everybody to ransom is pushing him into self destruction politically.”
The chieftains said the actions of the embattled senator during the exercise are “inimical to party discipline and progress.”
Dike and Nnajiude also warned that if he is not prevailed upon by the national leadership to conform to PDP rules and regulations guiding congresses, they might be forced to reconsider their membership of the party.
They expressed regret that Senator Uzodinma has constituted an embarrassment to Orlu political zone by his desperate and unruly conducts.
The chieftains declared that ”Uzodinma’s desire to be either governor in 2019 or a godfather who determines who gets anything within the PDP is what is propelling him into indulging in this unfortunate behaviour.
“We will resist him. The time for godfatherism is gone. He is destroying the party and bringing Orlu zone into disrepute. Nobody is greater than the party. He should emulate what Owerri and Okigwe zones did during the ward and local government congresses. PDP is not Uzodinma’s private property neither would we allow him to do trade by barter with our enemies.”
