Nigerians woke up to the news of the messy battle between Nigerian pop star, Runtown and his record label Eric Manny Records owned by billionaire businessman, Okwudili Umenyiora.

The label got a court injunction stopping Runtown from performing at any event or any form of recording for the time being unless with their approval.

Runtown responded with a letter from his lawyers claiming fraud and threat to life as legitimate reasons for terminating his contract.

However, one man caught in the middle of the fracas is Runtown’s manager Bugwu Aneto who also doubles as the general manager of Eric Manny Records as well as the CEO of Bug Media.

He has been accused by sources in the label of influencing and teaming up with Runtown to deprive the label of monies paid for shows as well as advising Runtown to ditch the label.

In a chat with our correspondent, Bugwu says, ‘I’ve never been paid a dime by the label. Now here’s the fact: Runtown’s contract says he gets 35%, on my own part as the management company, the contract says I get 15% and I should also get salary as the manager, but none of this was ever followed’.

He continued to say, ‘As the middle man, I tried to make peace and talk to both parties before it got out of hand but the label didn’t listen’.

In the court injunction by Ericmany Limited against Runtown, Bugwu’s company, Bug Media Limited was listed as one of the defendants.
