Nigerian mothers believe that no girl is good enough for their sons. They’ve managed to use the patriarchal system that subdues them, to oppress the women of the younger generation. Especially where their men are involved. If only they put in as much thought and passion into their daughters’ well-beings.
This was Hauwa’s thought as the bridal train scurried around her, putting the finishing touches on her previously dampened make up. Her mother in-law had stormed into the room, calling her all sorts of names and swearing that she, Hauwa had charmed her son.
