Evangelist (Professor) EBENEZER OBEY-FABIYI (MFR) famously called “The Chief Commander” or “Ebenezer Obey or “Baba Miliki” is a legend of Juju Music in Africa. The widely traveled award winning icon and inventor of Juju Miliki is not just an ordinary musician but one gifted with the knowledge of scripting and singing highly philosophical songs that changed lives of many people for good, across the world.
OBEY has released over a thousand musical works on marriage, hard work, good manners, money, fame, envy, wisdom, faith and life style. He is synonymous with good dance-able and thought provoking tracks in his albums. In his early 70s (76 precisely), the grand commander of Juju Miliki turned Evangelist of our Lord Jesus Christ has made his mark in the Nigerian entertainment sector and his effort is crowned with a Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) national honor by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The visiting professor of music (Olabisi Onabanjo University) has courted many great men and women in his over 50 years on the scene. One of such great men is the late Business Mogul and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Basorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. MKO Abiola, a business mogul turned politician is the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election in Nigeria. He was a friend of many successful diplomats, politicians, business men and head of governments around the world. But unknown to many, EBENEZER OBEY was one of the very few intellectuals MKO ABIOLA allowed into his inner court. OBEY was favored to be among MKO Abiola’s closest friends and a premium member of his private court.
In this heart warming encounter with Asabe Afrika TV inside his Ikeja-Lagos residence, the ‘Chief Commander’ himself spoke extensively on his relationship with the late Basorun MKO Abiola aka ‘Ajetumobi-Ologundudu’. This is coming on the heels of the recent honor bestowed on MKO Abiola by the President Muhammadu Buhari government which recognized him after 20 years of death as the winner of June 12, 1993, election, and equally bestowed upon him, posthumously the award of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) Ebenezer Obey has equally sung MKO Abiola’s praise in several of his albums. It was a friendship beyond music or entertainment.
