Buhari begs NLC to shelve nationwide strike

President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to shelve its nationwide strike slated to commence on Tuesday.

The president made the appeal at the presidential villa on Monday while receiving members of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria.

In a statement by Femi Adesina, special adviser on media and publicity to the president, Buhari said the labour union should consider his efforts in putting the economy right with the fewer resources his government inherited.

Labour unions are set to commence indefinite strike on Tuesday if meeting with the federal government fails to meet their demands.

However, Buhari lamented the huge infrastructural deficit in the country, which his government is struggling to improve on.
