The federal government has inaugurated a committee on strengthening internal security framework and community policing in Nigeria.

The committee is headed by Dr (Mrs) Amina Shamaki, the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Office, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The SSG, Boss Mustapha, who inaugurated the 14-man committee Tuesday, implored the members to come up with new innovate and pragmatic ways of resolving the nation’s security challenges and enthrone a robust culture of community policing.

He said calls to introduce state police had heightened in the last decade and similarly dominated discussions at the National Conference convened by the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2014.
