A 28-year-old bus driver, Olayemi Oyewunmi, facing trial for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl, was on Monday remanded at Kirikiri Prisons by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi refused to take the plea of the accused and said that the defendant should remain behind bars pending advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Oyewunmi, who resides at Magodo Road, Isheri, Lagos, is being tried for defilement.
The Prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, alleged that the accused committed the offence on May 11 at his residence.
Ayorinde told the court that the accused unlawfully had s3xual intercourse with the girl while she was on an errand for her mother.
He said that the girl was assaulted s3xually by the accused when her mother sent her to buy bathing soap.
