My swollen face and abdomen

I was recently placed on Prednisone tablets for my skin ailment but was surprised to later discover that the drug was giving me some problems. The first thing I noticed was that my skin was getting lighter while my abdomen and face started swelling up while I ended up gaining weight. I want to know if this is normal and what to do about it. I am a 55-year-old Civil Servant.
