THE Federal Capital Territory Administration has pledged to partner the United Nations Habitat (UN-Habitat) to implement programmes that wouldensure safe and habitable city.
Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has, accordingly, set up the “City We Need Implementation Committee” to drive the process.
The initiative, which is a requirement of the UN-Habitat, is a major outcome of the recently concluded Urban Thinkers Campus organised by the administration.
Bello, while inaugurating the 20-member implementation committee, said every city, like humans, breath, suffer and fall sick, and if not properly catered for”.
He lamented that some cities in the developing worldthat took the issues of urban regeneration lightly had had to pay for it with a surge of uncontrollable slums and urban decay.
