Dawanke, also known as bean flour dumpling, is a food made from cooked balls of dough that is made from bean flour and kuka powder (grounded baobab leaves). Originally from Niger State, dawanke has now become a popular food in some northern Nigeria towns and villages. Dawanke is rich in protein, vitamin C, as well as other nutritional elements such as alpha and beta carotenes, potassium, glutamic acid, mucilage, etc.

Bean flour

Kuka powder

Potash

Ponmo

Grounded chili pepper

Groundnut oil

Salt

Seasoning cubes

Mix the bean flour and Kuka powder in a medium-sized bowl. Dissolve the potash in a cup of water and gently add the potash water into the dry ingredients.
