In order to avert food shortage and possible food crises arising from the effects of COVID-19 on the country, Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN) has called on the Nigerian government to provide interventions for Maize farmers in the country to enable them to meet their 22 million metric tons target for 2020.
The President of the Association Dr Bello Abubakar who made the call in an interview in Abuja said it became necessary to alert the government as maize farmers have decried their inability to access their farms due to the lockdown and unavailability of inputs and the suspension of flight into the country which has led to input being imported into the country to be held up.
