Kwara sets up 14-man committee on Patigi/Lafiagi communal violence

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state has constituted a 14-person committee to look into recent civil disturbances in Patigi and Lafiagi area of the state.

A statement by the chief press secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Monday, said that the committee, which is chaired by former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Yissa is to ascertain the level of damage and recommend reliefs to the victims, among other things.

It is recalled that one person was reportedly killed in communal violence between Fulani herdsmen and indigenes of Lata in Patigi local government area of Kwara state last week.
