House of Reps, state police and the people’s safety

It is quite disheartening that the House of Representatives Committee on the Review of 1999 Constitution rejected the bill seeking the creation of state police. Coming at a time when the country is battling with banditry and escalated insecurity, the legislators have clearly demonstrated that the people’s safety is not their primary concern. The implication of this is that the nation’s battle against insecurity may be unnecessarily elongated.
