Buildings on sub-standard plots: Creativity or abuse of planning regulations? 


It is common practice within the Lagos Island Central Business District (CBD) to see five, six-storey buildings on sub-standard plots without setbacks and tiny air space between each other. Experts in the built environment industry are calling on the state government, especially agencies in charge of planning permit and building control, to discourage the process in order to prevent incessant building collapse and fire outbreak, which are prevalent in the enclave.
