Emir refutes claim of harmful vaccination in Yobe

DAMATURU—The Emir of Fika, Alhaji Mohammadu Abali, has debunked the rumour of harmful vaccination being administered on pupils at government schools as mischievous.

Speaking at the immunisation programme of state primary health care in Fika Emirate, Alhaji Abali said the rumour was aimed at discouraging the vaccination scheme.

He, therefore, solicited the cooperation of parents to allow their children to be immunised, assuring them that the vaccination was safe.

Recall that pupils in Yobe abandoned school lesson for about three weeks, following rumour of harmful vaccination carried out by health officials.

Schools, which were closed due to the rumour, however, re-opened after intervention of government and traditional rulers in the state.
