Gowon Foundation sensitises Plateau women on cervical cancer

Jos—THE Yakubu Gowon Foundation, YGF, has organised a cervical cancer sensitisation campaign in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The campaign, aimed at exposing the women to the causes and preventions of cervical cancer, alerting them about the symptoms as well as directing them to where they can find help, saw women in their numbers in attendance.

Addressing the women, a Consultant Gynaecologist with the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, Dr. Francis Ajang, stated that global new cervical cancer cases will be reaching 15 million annually by 2020, if something urgent is not done.

Earlier, the wife of the Transition Committee Chairman of Jos East council, Mrs. Rifkatu Barde, commended the Foundation for bringing the awareness campaign to the area.
