Nigeria loses $9bn in 2-yrs on illegal mining – FG


—-Distributes 50 Vehicles to Special Mines Surveillance Taskforce

ABUJA – THE Federal Government Wednesday lamented that the country lost about $9billion in two years on illegal mining particularly on gold exportation.


Consequently, the Federal Executive Council, FEC, has approved the procurement of 50 Hilux Vehicles to be distributed to states through the Special Mines Surveillance Task Force to put a stop to the illegal business.

This was revealed by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi while briefing State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council, which took place at the First Lady’s Conference room, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
