Ogun Police arrest 20 protesting MAPOLY students for arson

ABEOKUTA-Ogun Police Command, yesterday, said it had arrested no fewer than 20 protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, for alleged arson and public disturbance.

The Students were arrested on the second day of the protest which began on Monday over their inability to write their second semester examination.

It would be recalled that the protest grounded the state capital as vehicular and human movements were put on hold on Abeokuta major roads.

It was also reported that,a Police officer, Samuel Daniel, was injured in the head during the Monday protest.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi who spoke to newsmen on Tuesday in Abeokuta, explained that the hitherto peaceful protest had turned violent, saying some government properties have been touched.
