NMA locks horns with Oyo govt over posting of resident doctors

Ibadan—THE Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, South West zone has kicked against move by the Oyo State Government to transfer Resident Doctors at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology  Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso to non teaching institutions in the state.

The doctors, in a letter jointly signed by their chairman, Dr Atalabi O. M and Secretary, Elekwachi G and sent to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, said the move would erode the status of the hospital as a teaching hospital.

In addition, the medical practitioners said the proposed posting was a breach of the training schedule of doctors saying “it is contrary to the edict that established the residency training programme.”

The doctors warned that any attempt to implement it would be a “disservice to the populace and humanity.”
