Our commissioners indulge in job racketeering, FCC Chair tells Senate

SENATORS were, Thursday, told that the 37 Commissioners of the Federal Character Commission, FCC, through job racketeering, were sabotaging the efforts of the commission in trying to balance the federal character structure.

Speaking in Abuja when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs during a budget defence session, Acting Executive Chairman of the FCC, Dr Shetima Bukar Abba, who exposed the commissioners, said their actions made many of the state governors not to be interested in giving the commission required parcel of land for construction of state offices .

The FCC boss, who admitted the disturbing fact when confronted by members of the committee, said commissioners, who engaged in the act, comprised those far away from the people they represent in the commission.
