TRCN combs 12 states for unqualified teachers

Ibadan—IN its resolve to curb quackery in the teaching  profession, the  Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN,  has sent a monitoring team to 12 states across the country to ascertain the number of qualified and unqualified teachers.

This was disclosed by the Registrar/Chief Executive of the council, Professor Segun Ajiboye in Ibadan at the weekend while speaking with newsmen.

According to him, two states were selected in each of the six geopolitical zones in the country.

To achieve desired results, he hinted that the Council has engaged consultants who would take record of those licensed to teach and those yet-to-be-licensed.

Hinting that the consultants have eight weeks to submit their report, he said “the report would form the basis for weeding out unqualified teachers as well as advising states rightly.”
