Abduction of MOPOL commander: Kidnap kingpin killed in shootout with police, five suspects arrested

The police say operatives of the Intelligence Response Squad have arrested  five members of a kidnap gang allegedly behind the abduction of  the Unit Commander of MOPOL 55, Aba, Abia State, ASP Solomon Aniefiok, and collected ransom for his release.

During the operation to arrest the suspected kidnappers, one of them was killed in a shootout while a sister of the alleged  gang leader, Osioma Paul, said to be the arms and ammunition keeper for the gang, was arrested.

A statement by the police said Aniefiok  had, on January  14, gone  to check his men in the field when  he was  blocked and kidnapped by AK47 rifle carrying kidnappers.
