Let’s take a quick look at what a prostate is before going into issues associated with it. The prostate is a walnut-sized gland located between the bladder and the penis. The prostate is just in front of the rectum. The urethra runs through the centre of the prostate, from the bladder to the penis, letting urine flow out of the body. The prostate secretes fluid that nourishes and protects sperm. During ejaculation, the prostate squeezes this fluid into the urethra, and it’s expelled with sperm as semen.

Prostate naturally grows with age usually without any problems unless it becomes enlarged especially in older men from the age of 50 and above. Prostate enlargement happens to almost all men as they get older and as the gland grows, it can press on the urethra and cause urination and bladder problems.
