Applicant in court for allegedly stealing cell phones at `knife point’

Lagos – A 23-year-old unemployed, Adamu Seidi, who allegedly stole two cell phones valued at N70,000, at `knife point’ was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, whose address was not given, was docked on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.


The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 4, at No.19, Dosumu St., Lagos Island.

Akeem said that the accused and some others at large went to the shop of the complainant, Mrs Ebele Osunkwo, on the guise of buying some goods.

“They pointed a knife at her and stole her two cell phones valued at N70,000.

“They also stole N53,000 from her purse and left, while the complainant raised an alarm and accused was apprehended, ’he said.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
