UYO—Four suspected bandits, said to have attacked the residence of Senator Godswill Akpabio at Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, have been shot dead, the Commissioner of Police, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, confirmed, weekend.
The Police nabbed the leader of the gang, Akwaowo Daniel Umoren with an AK-47 rifle with 60 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Ogunjemilusi added that they had robbed petrol attendants and customers at Golf Safrin Filling Station close to Senator Akpabio’s house, forcing his security details to respond.
Although the shoo-tout reportedly temporarily disrupted a meeting at the Senator’s house, Ogunjemilusi explained that no one was hurt, saying the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ikot Ekpene, Benjamin Achebani, acting on a tip-off, led an operation during which four of the hoodlums…
