UNTIL last week, Anambra State House of Assembly had been enjoying relative peace. Since the emergence of Chief Willie Obiano as the governor of the state in 2013, the executive and legislative arms of government had been working together. But events of last week in the state legislature had rubbished the peaceful coexistence among the lawmakers on one hand, and the executive arm of government on the other.
Signs of an impending crisis in the state legislature began to manifest early in the year when many lawmakers in the state began to nurse the idea of prevailing on the governor, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra to assure them of automatic tickets for the 2019 elections.
