Some members of the national assembly recently suggested that Nigeria should return to the type of parliamentary system of government it practised in the early 60s. Many people tend to see the move as unnecessary and diversionary at this time. But some other people believe the parliamentary system of government could be the solution to Nigeria’s perennial geo-political challenges.
For me, although the move may be ill-timed (2019 elections are just by the corner), the idea is worth pondering for subsequent application. Some people might say it is the attitude of individuals who operate a system that matters and not necessarily the architecture of the system itself. Yes, that argument is understandable.
