Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji MNSE, has told the State lawmakers not to allow themselves to be cowed, intimidated or succumb to blackmail from any quarters in the discharge of their legislative duties particularly their oversight functions.

The Speaker stated this during Plenary of Tuesday, July 16, while announcing the committees.
“Our oversight functions are constitutional responsibilities placed on us by the people we represent through the laws of our land. We must discharge that function with the utmost sense of responsibility, dedication, courage and determination to do the right things without fear or favour.
“At no time should we allow ourselves to be swayed by those who want to blackmail and intimidate us into silence and legislative indolence”, he concluded.
