Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday disclosed that a ‘no work, no pay’ order was now in force in Rivers state over protesting judicial workers whose continued strike has grounded the state’s judiciary as it is happening across the country.
Wike, handing over Rivers State Government built Residential Quarters for the National Industrial Court Judges in Port Harcourt, questioned the constitutionality of the manner of ‘judiciary autonomy’ being promoted by the Federal Government (FG).
He wondered, “If FG wants autonomy of the judiciary, how can such a government say the courts should be shut down for almost two months now? Which country can survive when it’s courts are shut down for two months?”
